Who is responsible for your life? If you are like me, I have had my share of blaming others, fate you name it for the unfair or bad things that have happened. Its amazing how hard it can be to give up the blaming and own your own life. I think that sometimes we just want to be seen. We want others and the world to know that this terrible thing happened to us. We want to be noticed and understood.
Yet we marvel and are awed by resilience and courage. The survivors of the Holocaust, the wounded warriors retuning home to pick up their lives, the loss of a job, divorce, the survivors of cancer and other devastating losses. What makes the difference between living a life of bitterness and one of redemption?
There are many things that can contribute to a well lived life, one that is redemptive, hopeful and the feeling of being alive.
To decide to own your own happiness. To decide to live a life that is not about suffering but about being alive. It’s a beautiful lesson about redemption and understanding that no matter what happens or who we can blame, in the end we are responsible for our own happiness.
I hope you do something that will make you feel alive.
