It makes you wonder, doesn’t it?

Why are you trying so hard, why are you working so hard, why has the energy and love you have for your loved ones not get the time and expression it needs?  Have you ever been at that point in life where you say: “There has to be more, why am I working so hard, what does it all mean anyway’? Perhaps you say that as a couple: “What has happened to us, how did we  lose the energy of us”? Or maybe at work, you wonder why even if you’re successful or your business is successful, you are not happy”?

Someone once said that you will never feel loved until you drop the act. That is a hard one for most of us to believe. Most people think that you have to do something really special to be loved and admired. This is one of the biggest attachments or beliefs that we have, the belief that we are not good enough. All of us want to have things and have good experiences in life but most of us also have very mistaken beliefs about what this means or how to go about being happy.

It’s hard to understand this process of being happy. It probably should be the easiest thing on earth but we are complicated and the world is complicated. It’s just hard. It’s hard to be real. It’s scary. How do we let people in? It’s important to find intimacy with others, to have friends and to have a life partner.

I stand with you in this. Through my own enormous mistakes I have learned great lessons, through years and years of education and experience with thousands of clients, I have established a wonderful practice devoted to this.  I have made the choice to be happy and I have curated the wisdom of being real and happy.

Here you will find out how to walk the path of being real, to swim the depths of your misguided attachments and to take the plunge and commit to happiness.

What is your work?

Mary Oliver in her wise way tells me something incredible. “My work is loving the world. Here the sunflowers, there the hummingbird— equal seekers of sweetness Here the quickening yeast; there the blue plums. Here the clam deep in the speckled sand.” This feels like an internal yes to me. This Saturday morning when I…

Unfolding…

“I would love to like a river flows, carried by the surprise of its own unfolding” There is a never ending fire drill that is continuously happening which passes for our professional lives.  Busyness comes with its overload of information, requests, demands, meetings and the never, ever, ending emails. All of this comes with the…

How to make sense of your life…Be Undeniably Good

Steve Martin said it best on the Charlie Rose show: “When people ask me how do you make it in show business or whatever, what I always tell them–and nobody ever takes note of it ‘cuz it’s not the answer they wanted to hear–what they want to hear is, ‘Here’s how you get an agent. …

We can’t hold on to things and move forward…

Announcing:  My new book North of Divorce: Ten Steps Into A Beautiful Life The irony wasn’t lost on me. After years and years of work as a psychologist and leadership consultant–working with couples and individuals– I found myself wondering how the rug got pulled out from under me. Humbling to say the least. So I…

“Everything will be okay in the end. If it’s not okay, it’s not the end.” John Lennon

“This is why we call people exes, I guess – because the paths that cross in the middle end up separating at the end. It’s too easy to see an X as a cross-out. It’s not, because there’s no way to cross out something like that. The X is a diagram of two paths.” When…

Do something that makes you feel alive this weekend…

Who is responsible for your life? If you are like me, I have had my share of blaming others, fate you name it for the unfair or bad things that have happened. Its amazing how hard it can be to give up the blaming and own your own life. I think that sometimes we just…

Open the door to your freedom…

The vastness of the human heart is as timeless as it is profound. No matter the circumstance, we can choose to remain openhearted, knowing that the possibility of freedom is available to everyone. Jack Kornfield

Writing on the heart…

“Poetry is eternal graffiti written in the heart of everyone.” — Lawrence Ferlinghetti   Like the air we breathe, poems are necessary for life. Find poems that speak to you and lift you. Allow them to enter you as a cleansing breath. Do not hope to get something from poetry but to be released. Released…
